About Our Practice
Established in 1995 and located in East Greenwich, this Rhode Island medical practice prides itself on providing a traditional model of comprehensive patient care. The practice emphasizes personalized patient care that is relationship-based and supportive in nature. Doctors Herbert J. “Hub” Brennan, Charles L. Cronin III, Ryan S. Allen, Anthony V. Berghelli, and Benjamin P. Lichtenfels are joined by a devoted team of well-qualified staff and resident physicians who enhance the effectiveness of this well-regarded practice. The practice is a teaching affiliate of the Kent Hospital / Brown University Program in Internal Medicine and is affiliated with the Integra Care Network and the Rhode Island Primary Care Physicians Corporation.

Dr. Herbert J. Brennan
A lifelong local resident and founding partner, Doctor Brennan has developed a robust practice and lasting relationships with his patients for over twenty-five years. He is actively involved in clinical and civic activities outside of his office practice and played an active role in the effort to combat the Covid -19 pandemic. He is a graduate of Providence College and Midwestern University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency training through the Brown University – Memorial Hospital Program in Internal Medicine. Doctor Brennan is an Associate Clinical Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Dr. Charles Cronin III
Doctor Cronin is a Rhode Island native and founding partner of the practice. He has been caring for patients for over twenty-five years. During his tenure, Doctor Cronin developed and oversees the Kent Hospital - Brown University Residency Program in Internal Medicine, having graduated over one hundred residents in Internal Medicine. He is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island and Midwestern University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency training through the Brown University – Memorial Hospital Program in Internal Medicine. Doctor Cronin is an Associate Clinical Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine and the Warren Alpert School of Medicine at Brown University.
Dr. Ryan S. Allen
Dr. Allen was born and raised in upstate New York. He is a graduate of Siena College and Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. Doctor Allen completed his residency training through the Brown University – Kent Hospital Program in Internal Medicine. He is experienced in hospital-based care and joined the practice in 2019. Dr. Allen is an Assistant Professor of Medicine, Clinical Educator for the Warren Alpert School of Medicine at Brown University.
Dr. Benjamin P. Lichtenfels
Dr. Lichtenfels is a Rhode Island native and joined the practice in 2020. Upon completion of his clinical training, Dr. Lichtenfels committed himself to establishing a practice with a strong focus on providing care for the community. He embraced these challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic and worked extensively at the COVID-19 Field Hospital. He is a graduate of Providence College and the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency training through the Brown University – Kent Hospital Program in Internal Medicine.
Dr. Anthony V. Berghelli
Dr. Berghelli was born and raised in nearby Bridgewater, Massachusetts. He is a graduate of Boston University, and the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency training through the Brown University – Kent Hospital Program in Internal Medicine. Dr. Berghelli looks forward to providing excellent care to his patients in a comfortable and friendly setting.
